Owner: Main Street Theater | Architect: Studio RED Architects
Arch-Con demolished three walls and the roof of Main Street Theater in the Rice Village which was originally a dry cleaners in the 1940s converted to a theater in 1975. Designed by Studio Red, Arch-Con rebuilt the theater into a usable and functional space that includes a larger lobby, new restrooms, dressing rooms, a mezzanine, rehearsal/classroom space and a new, higher roof over the entire property. This enables the theater to eliminate the structural poles in the middle of the stage allowing new freedom for set and lighting designers.
